Does your teen know their Learning Style?

Visual? Auditory? Reader / Writer? Kinaesthetic?

How will this help your teen?

Research has shown that students perform better on tests and in exams if they use study techniques associated with their style of learning.

By finding out their predominant Learning Style your teen can make sure that they are utilising the study techniques associated with that Learning Style.

But regardless of your teen’s result on the Quiz, have a read of all the articles linked below because your teen may very well benefit from other Learning Styles and study techniques too. A lot of us are combination learners (me included, visual; reader/writer).

  • Visual Learners

    Visual

Visual learners learn best through what they see. Diagrams and watching videos are on the list. Study notes are colourful and their recall for images is strong.

  • Auditory Learners

    Auditory

Auditory learners learn best through what they hear. They might not be able to tell you what they just read in a textbook, but their recall for what they hear is top notch.

  • Reader Writer Learners

    Reader/Writer

Reader/Writer learners are predominantly text-based learners. They learn best by reading information and writing out their own study notes; old-school studiers.

  • Kinaesthetic Learners

    Kinaesthetic

Kinaesthetic (or tactile) learners learn best by doing stuff; activities, building; using models, being active, playing memory games. Text books? Not so much.
