Studying - One Size Fits All?
Without wanting to state the biggest cliché ever, everybody’s different. Remarkably different in fact. In no circumstance does one size fit all.And of course, studying is no different.Just because I study well at night, doesn’t mean your child will.Just because I sometimes listen to music while I study, doesn’t mean your child should.Just because I prefer studying for long chunks of time before having a break, doesn’t mean your child won’t need to take a quick break after 45 minutes.Just because your child’s best friend colour codes every aspect of their study notes, doesn’t mean they should.
Your child needs to figure out what study habits work best for them.
Yes this will take a bit of time, but so what? While they’re still at school is the time to be sussing out what study techniques they want to adopt permanently. All of the tips and techniques we talk about in this newsletter should be taken on board but also moulded to suit your child personally.
We’re never going to tell you that your child should study during the day, for 1.5 hours at a time, while drinking hot chocolate and listening to classical music.
These are the details you and your child are going to have to figure out for yourselves through trial and error.
